Rediscover Peace,
with surgery led by science

Our surgical team consists of fully qualified and GMC-accredited plastic surgeons who have trained extensively in complex reconstructive nerve surgery and have decades of experience operating in the head and neck region.

Oxford Migraine Practice are leaders in specialised surgery for migraines & chronic headaches

Migraine surgery is a rapidly evolving field. Our surgeons have travelled widely to learn the latest surgical techniques from migraine surgery experts in the USA, Germany, and Italy, including Dr Bahman Guyuron in Cleveland, who is the founder of migraine surgery. Our team have taken the best part of these different worldwide practices and adapted it so it can work here for patients in the UK.

Between us we have carried out thousands of nerve decompression operations, and this is an area of expertise for our surgical team. Under our care you will always be operated on by two experienced surgeons. Our practice is solely migraine and headache-focussed.

We also have a strong scientific interest in understanding the biological mechanisms underlying peripheral nerve compression and how it contributes to migraines. Our surgical team includes surgeon-scientists at the University of Oxford who undertake internationally leading research into the genetic basis of vulnerability to nerve compression, and the mechanisms of nerve injury through compression. We have published extensively on this subject in leading scientific journals, including our research into the genetic causes of migraine and how it overlaps with carpal tunnel syndrome, a common peripheral nerve compression syndrome.

Oxford Migraine Practice FAQs

No, contact our friendly team in the office and they will be able to help you.

We offer Botox injections and surgery for the treatment of migraine, we do not prescribe medication.

We will never promise a “cure” for your migraines, and it is important to us that our patients have realistic expectations before deciding to undergo surgery. While a small number of patients may find that their migraines are effectively “cured”, the majority of patients will not be completely free of their migraines. What we are aiming to do is to improve your headaches to the point where you have sufficient headache-free days per month so that your life is less dominated and dictated by your migraines.
